Conference and Reviewing Manager

Halton Borough Council has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced social work professional to join our Children’s Safeguarding Unit.  We are recruiting to a part-time Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO), known locally as an Independent Reviewing Manager.  We are looking for a committed and passionate person who is interested in not only improving outcomes for Halton’s most vulnerable children but also driving forward improvements in practice across Halton.

The full-time role involves chairing Child in Care Reviews. You will have responsibility for ensuring that each child has an outcome focused plan that meets their needs and is effectively implemented within agreed timescales in line with relevant statutory requirements.

The role also involves various quality assurance functions in relation to departmental and partnership practice, identifying and following up concerns about practice standards, contributing to case auditing and service reviews as required.

The Council is invested in training and development, and you will be supported by regular supervision and other reflection and learning opportunities. We are also committed to providing flexible working and a healthy work/life balance.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  1. Experience of working within a broad knowledge of social work practice and legislation, including safeguarding.
  2. An ability to demonstrate excellent skills at applying threshold and reviewing standards of practice.
  3. A passion for and experience of improving outcomes for children and young people.
  4. Registered with Social Work England.
  5. A Social Work degree or equivalent social work qualification.

For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Michelle McPherson, Safeguarding Unit Manager on 0151 511 5303

Interviews will be held on the 08/08/2024.

Please note interviews will be held face to face in Halton.
