Northway Community Primary School is seeking to appoint two exceptional Assistant Headteachers to join our committed and passionate leadership team. These are exciting opportunities for outstanding practitioners and leaders to play a key role in driving inclusion, raising standards and improving outcomes for all pupils.
As part of our strengthened leadership structure, we are recruiting to the following roles:
- Assistant Headteacher – Achievement and Key Stage 2 Lead
- Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion and Pastoral
Both roles are integral to our school’s continued improvement and offer significant whole‑school leadership responsibility within a supportive and collaborative team.
The Roles
Assistant Headteacher – Achievement and Key Stage 2 Lead
This role has a strong strategic focus on pupil achievement, progress and standards, particularly in Key Stage 2. The successful candidate will provide clear, accountable leadership for assessment and outcomes, ensuring that underachievement is identified early and addressed effectively. This role would suit an experienced leader who is highly skilled in using assessment information intelligently to secure strong progress and raise standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading assessment, pupil progress and attainment across the school
- Providing strategic leadership for Key Stage 2
- Driving improvements in outcomes for all groups of pupils, including disadvantaged pupils and those with additional needs
- Supporting and challenging staff to secure consistently high‑quality teaching and learning
- Contributing to robust self‑evaluation and school improvement planning
Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion and Pastoral
This role has a strong strategic focus on inclusion, behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing, ensuring that every pupil feels safe, supported and able to learn.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading inclusive practice across the school
- Leading provision and outcomes for disadvantaged pupils, including responsibility for Pupil Premium
- Overseeing behaviour and attendance systems to ensure consistency and impact
- Taking a senior role in safeguarding as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Working closely with families and external agencies to support vulnerable pupils
- Ensuring the curriculum is accessible and well adapted so all pupils can engage and achieve.
This role would suit a leader who is deeply committed to equity and inclusion, and who understands the vital link between wellbeing and achievement. Applicants do not need to hold the SENDCo qualification, although experience or interest in SEND and inclusive practice is essential; support to undertake the qualification can be discussed if appropriate.
We Are Looking for Leaders Who:
- Are outstanding classroom practitioners with a strong record of impact
- Have proven experience relevant to one of the two roles
- Are reflective, strategic and ambitious for pupils and staff
- Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents and external partners
- Are committed to professional development and sustained school improvement.
We Can Offer:
- A clear and supportive leadership structure
- A welcoming, inclusive and values‑driven school community; one with restorative relational practice at the heart of all we do
- Enthusiastic pupils who are eager to learn
- Strong commitment to professional development and career progression.
