The role plays a vital part in protecting renters’ rights and supporting fair, lawful and safe housing conditions across the borough. Typical issues you will handle include unlawful eviction, harassment, poor housing conditions, discrimination and breaches of the Renters Rights Act.
You will also maintain accurate case records, monitor service responses and provide clear advice to tenants and landlords on rights and responsibilities.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to residents by promoting safe housing, preventing unlawful practices and ensuring coordinated and timely responses to private rented sector concerns.
About the candidate:
We would like to hear from you if you have the following:
- Experience in a regulatory, housing or public facing environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work sensitively with residents, including vulnerable households.
- The ability to assess information, prioritise cases and manage multiple demands at once.
- Confidence in working across teams and with partner agencies.
- Good IT skills and experience using case management systems.
- An ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy and procedures.
- Knowledge of the Renters Rights Act, the private rented sector or housing is desirable, as is experience in multi-agency working, HHSRS or housing enforcement.
Training will be provided, including support to undertake the HHSRS qualification.
You must be organised, calm under pressure and able to maintain accurate records while delivering a customer focused service.
