Our Team:
Halton’s Library Service is delivered through four public libraries and as an outreach service across the Borough, this includes the Community Library Service, and the Home Library Service. The Service is an early adopter of new technologies including open source software solutions, embracing innovation to improve customer experiences and financial efficiency. The library service is a key resource for our community, providing access to books, learning opportunities, cultural activity, and information.
This role is primarily based between Runcorn and Widnes Libraries, with a requirement to travel across all local library sites, as well as other Halton settings including Family Hub locations, schools and community venue.

Your Contributions:As a skilled Library Development officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the growth and development of the Library Service, with a strong focus on our Children & Families offer.
Some of the main responsibilities of the role include:
• Building and maintaining strong partnerships with colleagues, frontline teams, and external organisations to deliver effective library programmes, events, and initiatives
• Promoting libraries and reading through targeted campaigns, events, and activities (e.g. children’s programmes and holiday schemes) to support literacy and lifelong learning
• Planning, developing, and delivering Children & Families services, including resources, training, and engaging activities, while contributing to service plans and policies
• Using data insights, user feedback, and creative marketing (including social media and visual materials) to improve services, increase engagement, and meet performance targets
• Supporting service development through project work, funding bids, stock recommendations, and collaboration with partners to enhance community impact
