Our Team:
The Financial Management function supports a wide range of operational departments across the Council. You will be involved in the full range of activities across the annual financial cycle from setting budgets, monitoring the budget outturn position to closing down accounts at financial year-end. You will be well supported from all levels but also given the chance to be creative and innovative to problem solving and improving processes.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and professional Finance team, supporting the delivery of high-quality financial services across the organisation.
We are seeking a candidate with proven experience in a public sector accounting environment and a strong understanding of local government finance, including the key stages of the annual finance cycle.
The successful candidate will have:
- AAT membership or a relevant degree qualification
- Experience within public sector finance, with an understanding of local government financial processes
- Knowledge of the key stages within the annual finance cycle
- Strong report writing and analytical skills
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively
Key skills and experience:
- Ability to produce clear, accurate and well-structured financial reports
- Confidence in analysing and interpreting financial data
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with senior officers
- Ability to use initiative and provide practical solutions to problems
- Highly proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and related systems

The role operates on a hybrid working basis, with a requirement to attend the office at DCBL Stadium, Widnes at least two days per week.
