Environmental Health Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Public Protection Service in Sefton, following the creation of an additional post in the Pollution Control Team. Public Protection is busy and vibrant department undertaking statutory and regulatory functions across Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Licensing.

We are looking for a fully qualified Environmental Health Officer to join our Pollution Control Team. The Pollution Control Team's areas of responsibility include:

  • Investigation of commercial noise and statutory nuisance cases.
  • Local Air Quality Management.
  • Permitting of Industrial Sites under LAPPC/LA-IPPC.
  • Statutory consultee in the Planning and Licensing regimes.
  • Management of Contaminated Land.

The Role

You will be responsible for the case management of a varied workload including:

  • Investigation of commercial noise and statutory nuisance complaints.
  • Responding to service requests and enquiries.
  • Conducting inspections and investigations.
  • Responding to planning and licensing consultations.

The successful candidate shall have experience in pollution control work and regulatory enforcement. You will be an excellent team player with strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to competently organise and prioritise complex casework, both programmed and reactive.  


Requirements of the job

Successful candidates will:

  • Hold an accredited degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Health.
  • Have an EHORB Certificate of Registration (or equivalent).
  • Possess significant post-qualification experience in pollution control supported by relevant CPD.
  • Have a full driving licence, valid in the UK.
