About the Role
We are looking to appoint a Clean Energy Technical Lead to join the North West Net Zero Hub, a regionally focused programme hosted by Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. This role will provide expert technical and strategic advice to local authorities, public sector bodies, businesses and communities to support the North West’s transition to Net Zero.
The postholder will lead on clean energy and low‑carbon power generation, with a strong focus on renewable energy, flexibility and enabling infrastructure across public sector assets, wider estates and place‑based portfolios. The role will support partners to identify, develop and bring forward technically robust, investable clean energy projects, helping to unlock public and private sector investment.
You will work closely with colleagues across the Hub, as well as with local government partners, network operators, developers, investors and central government bodies. You will also contribute to an England‑wide network of Net Zero Hubs, sharing best practice and supporting national clean energy objectives.
About the Person
You will be an experienced and motivated clean energy professional with strong technical expertise in energy systems, power generation technologies and grid integration. You will have a good understanding of the commercial, financial and regulatory considerations involved in developing clean energy projects and bringing them to market.
You will be confident providing expert advice and challenge, able to translate complex technical information into clear, practical guidance for non‑technical audiences. You will be well organised, collaborative, and comfortable working across multiple stakeholders in a fast‑paced, programme‑driven environment.
A proactive approach, strong communication skills and a commitment to supporting public sector decarbonisation and community benefit will be essential to success in this role.
