Are you passionate about making a difference for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? We are looking for a motivated and organised individual to join our SEND team as a SEND Case Worker Assistant Apprentice.
This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in SEND within Children’s Services. You will support SEND Caseworkers with statutory assessment processes and the development and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping to ensure children and young people receive the right support at the right time.
You will be a key point of contact for parents, schools and professionals, help manage statutory timescales, prepare correspondence, maintain records and contribute to a busy, supportive team working in a fast‑paced environment. You’ll also assist with data, finance and administrative tasks that support effective service delivery.
We are looking for someone who is well organised, resilient, able to manage competing priorities, and confident using IT systems. No minimum qualifications are required as this is an apprenticeship role – just enthusiasm, commitment and a genuine interest in working with children and young people.
In return, we offer structured learning, professional development, and the opportunity to progress into a SEND Caseworker role.
At Knowsley Council we will consider requests for flexible working. For most roles, the following types of flexibility are usually possible: flexible hours, working from home, compressed hours, part-time. There is a requirement for you to attend your work base at least 2 day’s per week.
We welcome applications from residents and beyond, regardless of background, belief, or identity, recognising the value that diversity brings to our organisation. We particularly welcome applications from individuals from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and candidates with disabilities as we acknowledge their underrepresentation in our workforce.
