Freshfield Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and principled Class Teacher to
join our highly inclusive, high-performing school community. We welcome applications from
teachers at any stage of their career and from both mainstream and specialist backgrounds.
ABOUT FRESHFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL
Freshfield Primary School is a highly inclusive, outward-facing school in the heart of Formby. Alongside our mainstream provision, we are proud to operate a specialist SEND Resource Unit — two integrated
communities that strengthen and inform each other every day. Our ethos is shaped by five core values:
belonging, resilience, curiosity, respect, and ambition.
We are a school with high aspirations for every child and every member of staff. We invest in our people, engage with regional and national networks, and approach educational technology as a meaningful tool for inclusion and progress. Every member of our team is supported to develop their practice and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
THE ROLE
The successful candidate will be appointed to a class teacher position within either our mainstream provision or our specialist SEND Resource Unit. The placement will be confirmed at the point of appointment, informed by both the needs of the school and the experience and strengths of the successful candidate.
We are open to applications from newly qualified and early-career teachers, experienced practitioners from mainstream settings, and those with specialist SEND experience. What is non-negotiable is a genuine commitment to our children, our values, and our culture of professional excellence.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL DEMONSTRATE
We are looking for a teacher who brings:
• A deep commitment to the welfare, progress, and potential of every child
• The ability to build strong, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues
• High professional standards and a reflective, evidence-informed approach to teaching
• A willingness to engage with and develop the use of educational technology in the classroom
• An understanding of, or strong commitment to developing knowledge of, inclusive practice and SEND
• Ambition for continued professional development and a desire to contribute to a forward-thinking school
APPLICATIONS ARE WELCOMED FROM
Freshfield values breadth of experience and perspective. We particularly encourage applications from:
• Newly qualified or early-career teachers seeking a supportive environment with strong professional
development
• Experienced mainstream teachers with an interest in broadening their practice in an inclusive setting
• Teachers with specialist SEND experience who are committed to high expectations and integrated
provision
• Practitioners at any career stage who are ready to grow, take on responsibility, and contribute to school improvement
WHAT WE OFFER
• A welcoming, inclusive staff community with a genuine culture of belonging and mutual support
• Clear, values-driven leadership with a strong sense of purpose and strategic direction
• High-quality CPD, including EdTech, SEND, and leadership development pathways
• Active engagement with regional networks, research, and best practice
• Structured collaboration time built into the working week
• A Resource Unit that is fully integrated into the life and ethos of the school
• Performance management that is developmental, purposeful, and professionally ambitious
We strongly encourage prospective applicants to visit the school prior to applying. Please contact the school office to arrange an appointment.
Closing date: Monday 1st June
Interviews: Observations will take place the week commencing 1st June, with interviews following the week commencing 8th June.
