The role:
Help Liverpool residents when they need it most.
Liverpool City Council is looking for a committed and compassionate Team Leader to support the delivery of the Liverpool Citizen Support Scheme (LCSS) and the Crisis and Resilience Fund– providing urgent help to residents facing financial crisis.
You’ll take ownership of complex and urgent cases, making discretionary decisions on awards for essential living needs. Working with partner organisations and internal teams, you’ll ensure support is delivered quickly, fairly and in line with local policy and legislation.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and resolve LCSS applications from start to finish
- Make informed decisions on urgent and household support awards
- Support vulnerable residents with empathy and professionalism
- Liaise with partners such as DWP, HMRC, landlords and council services
- Safeguard public funds and help prevent fraud
- Deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service under pressure
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in welfare benefits, local welfare provision or similar casework
- Strong decision-making and numeracy skills
- Confidence handling complex, sensitive and urgent situations
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- A commitment to equality, dignity and customer service
