About the Role

The Combined Authority (CA) is entering an exciting period of change and growth, and we are looking for a skilled and committed Technical Accountant (Investments) with the skills and experience to deliver a high-quality technical accounting service that informs organisational decision-making and enables the production of the financial statements.

The Technical Accountant (Investments) will have responsibility for the financial accounting of the organisation’s equity investments and loans, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. The role includes performing impairment reviews and Expected Credit Loss assessments in line with relevant accounting standards. The role will also provide a financial review of information received from the Combined Authority's Joint Venture

 

About the person

We are looking for a CCAB or CIMA fully qualified accountant with significant experience of working on technical accounting issues in a complex organisation, who understands the financial challenges and opportunities faced within the public sector. You will be a team player used to working collaboratively across finance and the wider business, with strong IT skills to enable you to develop, maintain and interrogate complex spreadsheets.

As a technical accountant you will enjoy the detail and the interpretation/application of accounting standards including explaining the implications to other finance and non finance colleagues.

1) A CCAB or CIMA fully qualified accountant with strong technical accounting acumen and a detailed understanding of the applicability of relevant accounting standards and conventions

2) Excellent financial management and analytical skills

3) Significant involvement in year end closedown processes in line with accounting practice and challenging closure timescales or significant experience of working in an external audit team
