SENDCO – temporary to cover absence
Part time, 2 days a week
The Governors of Holy Family Primary School Southport are looking to appoint an experienced SENDCO to cover long term absence.
Holy Family is a one-form entry primary school situated in Southport. We are very proud of our children and staff alike and the happiness of our children is paramount.
Are you a committed and passionate SENDCO with a creative and proactive approach, if so we would love to hear from you. You must be a friendly, polite, committed person who is well organised and dedicated to following our mission statement in your work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Understanding the different types of learning difficulties and disabilities.
- Identifying and assessing pupils’ needs and observing them in the classroom.
- Liaising with parents of SEN children.
- Building good rapport with SEN pupils.
- Maintaining accurate pupil records.
- Designing and delivering interventions in the classroom.
- Developing learning resources and strategies for SEN pupils.
- Leading, supporting and training staff members in SEN provisions.
- Creating and monitoring individual learning plans.
- Providing regular updates on SEN pupils’ progress.
- Making referrals with specialists and professionals outside the school if required.
- Staying up-to-date with current SEN guidance issued by the Government.
- Creating the school’s SEN strategy and policy.
- Communicating the SEN policy to other staff members.

Starting date: ASAP subject to enhanced DBS clearance and satisfactory references
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. The appointment will be subject to pre-employment checks, including satisfactory Enhanced Level DBS clearance.
It is Sefton Local Authority and Holy Family Primary School policy that all new employees are required to satisfactorily complete a probationary period of 6 months prior to being confirmed in their appointment.
