The role:
- In the role of the Assistant Transport Manager will be working closely with the Fleet Transport Managers, you will provide high-quality administrative and technical support across a range of fleet activities, with a particular focus on operator licensing and regulatory compliance. This will include supporting communication with the Traffic Commissioner’s Office and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency
- As the Assistant Transport Manager you will help maintain accurate compliance, vehicle and financial records, support statutory fleet processes and contribute to transport-related inspections and investigations. You will also assist with the collection and analysis of operational data, process orders and invoices, monitor internal recharges and provide accurate information to Fleet Officers, Finance colleagues, other council services and external suppliers
- The role of Assistant Transport Manager will involve supporting and servicing meetings, preparing and circulating documents, taking minutes and completing follow-up actions. You may also deputise for Fleet Transport Managers at appropriate local and regional service meetings
Development opportunity:
- This role offers an excellent development opportunity for an individual aspiring to progress into professional fleet and transport management. You must either hold the HGV Transport Management Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) or be willing to obtain the qualification within two years of appointment. The successful candidate will be supported to develop towards a future Fleet Transport Manager role and subject to qualification and experience, may be nominated as a Transport Manager on the Council's Operator Licence
- To support the achievement of the Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (TM CPC) qualification, the Council will fully fund the course and provide appropriate study support, including reasonable time during working hours to undertake learning activities
- The successful candidate will be expected to actively engage with the training and make every reasonable effort to successfully achieve the qualification. Where a candidate is unsuccessful at the first attempt, the Council will continue to provide the same level of financial and study support for a second attempt
