Head of Procurement

Are you a strategic procurement leader who can turn great ideas into great outcomes?

We're looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Procurement to lead our Procurement Service and help shape how the Council buys, commissions and manages goods, services and works. Working within the framework of the Procurement Act 2023 and wider public sector legislation, you'll ensure our procurement processes are compliant, commercially astute and deliver real value for money.

This key leadership role will have an opportunity to make a tangible impact across the Council. You'll work closely with senior leaders as we focus on better outcomes and sustainable services for the residents of our Borough.  Your input will be a key influence in ensuring the Council’s Corporate and Transformation Plans are delivered and financial objectives are met.

Leading an experienced procurement team, you'll champion best practice in commissioning, sourcing, contract management and supplier relationships. You'll help drive innovation, maximise social value, strengthen commercial outcomes and ensure procurement decisions support the Council's wider ambitions around sustainability, ethics and community benefit.

We're looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery, build strong relationships, challenge constructively and inspire confidence across the organisation. In return, you'll have the chance to influence key decisions, lead meaningful change and help create lasting value for residents, businesses and partners, at the same time as supporting and developing future talent within the service.
