Fixed-term contract for 12 months.
About the role:
You will be instrumental in the reduction of the documentation and accessioning backlog of Wirral Museums Service, in line with Museums Service and Departmental Plans. You will contribute to the ongoing work to make Wirral’s arts and museum collections more accessible to the public.
Wirral Council is undergoing transformational, and regeneration change within the Museum services and the Documentation Officer will play a key role in updating the records of the collections ¿ compiling a detailed inventory of Museum assets, noting condition, value, location, dimensions, and existing documentation.
About the candidate:
Wirral Museums Service is seeking a Documentation Officer to take responsibility for the documentation of Wirral’s arts and museum’s collections: cataloguing and recording objects, updating records on the collections management system, and working to improve collections accessibility.
Qualifications:
- Level 6 qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent e.g. A degree in Art History or Museum Studies
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficient in using database software.
- IT literate and administratively self-sufficient.
- Highly organised.
- Attention to detail.
- Research skills Experience.
- Supervising staff and volunteers.
Interviews to be held on 1st June 2023.
