Virtual School Education Officer

Following a service redesign, the Virtual School Head is seeking to appoint seven additional Education Officers to join Liverpool’s dynamic and supportive Virtual School Team. The Virtual School is responsible for promoting the educational achievement and progress of Liverpool’s children in care, through the Personal Education Planning process. The role includes monitoring and tracking of educational achievement and experience of individual young people, to support schools, social workers and carers in planning and arranging interventions that are focused on increasing attainment and improving educational outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to care experienced young people and those with a social worker.

Virtual School Education Officers will work across a range of settings, with multiagency professionals providing advice and guidance in relation to improving educational outcomes. Education Officers will work directly with young people to promote their educational progress, achievement, and development of key skills for life.

The Virtual School Cohort ranges from 2-18 years and so experience of working within or across phases or an interest in any of the following areas are valuable: EYFS, Primary, Secondary, Special Educational Needs and Post-16 education. We are seeking individuals with a ‘can do’ attitude.

Additional training opportunities and continuing professional development around the unique role of the Virtual School will be provided.

We are an inclusive employer and we particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Backgrounds, who have a disability or are members of the Armed Forces, Reservists or Veterans and those with lived experience of the care system.

If you would like to talk to a member of the team about the role or have an informal discussion, please contact Carolyn Lawler on carolyn.lawler1@liverpool.gov.uk.

Please note that in accordance with the Council’s policy, employees who are in a formal redeployment situation will be considered in the first instance for all vacancies.
