About the Role:
As a Senior Technical Clerk, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Technical Services Unit (TSU) Team Leader to provide an excellent, efficient, and professional technical support service for Development Control. You will have an understanding of planning and Land Charges and an understanding of Local Government. You will be organised, creative and efficient in the way you go about assisting to deliver an effective service.
Senior Technical Clerk
- The role will assist the TSU Team Leader in the undertaking of all aspects of inputting and processing planning applications, including validation and fee related matters, ensuring applications are passed to professional teams within required timescales. The role will assist with support processes relating to planning appeals and planning committee. The role will also assist the TSU Team Leader with the effective delivery of the Land Charges service.
- The role will undertake tasks relating to procurement, operational matters, and performing tasks around maintain office and administrative systems, to ensure continuity in effective service provision as required.
- The role will play a part in liaising with other sections and departments of the Council and outside bodies/organisations as appropriate and provide advice, information and assistance to Ward Councillors and the public on planning applications and related matters, with support to processes around planning appeals when appropriate.
- The role is responsible for assisting the TSU Team Leader in managing the work and tasks of team members and assisting with ensuring that the service is delivered in accordance with the Department's policies.
- The role requires effective working knowledge on the efficient operation of the team and its processes.
Hybrid working offers the opportunity to both work from home and also work alongside colleagues in the office. You will be fully supported in learning the role and it is envisaged that the appointment will require the post holder to attend the office for one-to-one training and collaboration with colleagues.
About the candidate:
We are looking for someone who is hard working and keen to gain knowledge and experience in working in a Development Management team within Local Government. You will demonstrate an understanding of the planning system and the role your team have to play.
