Health and Safety Advisor (Commercial and Schools)

We are seeking to recruit a full-time Health and Safety Advisor within our busy Health and Safety Team which is located within the Risk and Audit function of Corporate Resources, whilst working out of Magdalen House, Bootle (with a hybrid working option available).

The Health and Safety team provides advice and guidance to the organisation on occupational health, safety and well-being matters and works closely with Risk and Audit colleagues (including Risk and Resilience, Insurance, Assurance and Internal Audit), as well as the Personnel Department, The Health Unit, Public Health, Property Services and Workforce Learning and Development.

This role will focus on developing support for Sefton schools and other organisations with a service level agreement in place, whilst also supporting day-to-day corporate advisory and monitoring activities.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

Assisting the Senior Health and Safety Officer in providing advice and support on Health and Safety matters, whilst ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation.

Supporting delivery of the Council’s Health and Safety Strategy in accordance with an appropriate model and for carrying out the actions designed to implement the strategy across the Council.

Providing formal feedback to corporate management and schools on the significant findings of any audit or inspection and highlighting practical recommendations to address key weaknesses identified.

Assisting in the monitoring of the accident, incident and RIDDOR database, as well as contributing to event safety management, school visits and representing the health and safety team at relevant committee meetings where required.
