ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Launching in April 2024, the LCR Investment Zone is a new policy intervention designed to accelerate the growth of the life science sector, creating more than 4,000 new jobs by 2030.
Backed by £160 million in government funding over ten years, the Investment Zone will support a range of initiatives from developing sites and infrastructure to support for business and innovation, skills and inward investment. This will help to leverage over £320m of private sector investment, catapulting the growth of many small and medium sized businesses, supporting world-leading innovation and creating skilled job opportunities for the region’s residents.
The health and life sciences sector already contributes an estimated £290m to the Liverpool City Region’s economy every year and Mayor Rotheram, has an ambitious target to invest 5% of its GVA to research and development – almost double the national target.
We are seeking a new Programme Lead to drive forward the strategy and delivery of LCRs Investment Zone programme. This is a crucial role in ensuring that the Investment Zone successfully enhances Liverpool City Region’s position as a national and global leader in life sciences. The successful candidate will lead an ambitious range of interventions, working closely with key public and private stakeholders to deliver impact for LCR businesses and residents.
ABOUT THE PERSON
We are looking for an entrepreneurial, driven leader ready for a new challenge and passionate about Liverpool City Region. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to deliver on a substantial programme of interventions within the region, demonstrating the value of investing in LCR to government, the private sector and SMEs. With the Investment Zone launching in April 2024, this is a great opportunity to shape and direct the path of an exciting new area of opportunity for the region.
The successful candidate will be a leader with experience of economic development, able to demonstrate their ability to inspire and motivate others. They will be able to demonstrate experience of working with a broad range of stakeholders, including the private sector, and understand how and when public and private sectors can best work in partnership.
We are looking for someone who take a responsive and creative approach to problem solving, encouraging ideas from across teams and working around constraints and challenges to translate ideas into practice. The successful candidate will have highly developed written and oral communication skills, able to present complex ideas in a clear and comprehensible way.
