Modernisation Manager - Leisure
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Neighbourhood and Housing Directorate to support the implementation of a new future leisure services model in Liverpool as ‘Modernisation Manager – Leisure’.
The transformation of Leisure Services is a priority transformation project that will form an integral part of a new city-wide Neighbourhood Model. The new Modernisation Manager will support the coordination and delivery of the transformation project for Leisure.
The future operating model is being scoped and the production of this will be supported by you. You will support both the design and delivery of new services and initiatives that deliver improved, measurable outcomes for the residents of the city; your work will align with the city’s recent review of Leisure, the emerging refresh of the Physical Activity and Sport Strategy and Sport England’s Navigating Local Systems project.
You will be a resilient, tenacious, and experienced professional who has experience working on large scale projects that improve outcomes for both residents and the Council. You will have significant experience of the leisure industry with either a local authority or private sector setting and a proven track record of turning strategy into deliverables as well as managing and reporting on service performance.
What you’ll bring:
- The ability to hit the ground running and experience of supporting change to meet Liverpool’s strategic and organisational goals.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to inspire colleagues, stakeholders, and 3rd party partners.
- Critical thinking skills with a track record of working within a large fast-paced environment.
- A significant knowledge of leisure services and the associated challenges, with a proven track record of exceptional organisation, co-ordination and influencing skills.
To succeed in this role:
- You will have drive, determination, and diplomacy with the ability to support fast paced change.
- You will have strong leadership and communication skills - you can translate and prepare communications that include complex information, so it works at all levels.
- You will be resilient and tenacious – you’ll thrive under pressure and can focus and prioritise effectively in a changing and challenging environment.
- You can build effective relationships and can collaborate at all levels across the organisation.
- You’ll have integrity, you lead by example, and you go the extra mile when needed.
This is a key leadership role in the Neighbourhoods and Housing Directorate. You will have the opportunity to support and collaborate on work across both the directorate and as determined by either the Head of Leisure Transformation or the wider Directorate Management Team. If you are ambitious, have solid business acumen, great people skills and are self-driven with an outstanding work ethic then we want to hear from you.
You will have access to a range of benefits including flexible working, generous annual leave entitlement and membership of the Local Government Pension scheme.
