Human Resources Business Partner

There’s never been a more exciting time to join the HR Team here at Halton.  With a new HR Business Partner structure that has been rolled out only 5 months ago and an agenda for transformational change across the council, this role brings an amazing opportunity for a driven HR professional. You will actively contribute to shaping the service and enhance the reputation of the HR team, as well as showing our colleagues just what a HR Business Partnering team can really deliver.

Our Business Partnering team provide a vital service across the Council, proactively supporting managers at all levels with all aspects of people management. The team will be involved in a number of initiatives to support the delivery of our workforce vision, including change management, policy development and other improvement projects, all to help deliver our aim of ensuring Halton Borough Council is a great place to work.

The HR Business Partner will provide motivational leadership, line management and coaching and development to an Assistant HR Business Partner. You will operate as HR Business Partner to a specific area of the Council, with the ultimate aim of working with managers to ensure that service delivers an excellent customer experience.

The HR Business Partner will be a key team member and contribute to the continuous improvement of the HR Business Partnering Team as well as the wider HR Operations Division.

As a HR specialist, you will have experience of coaching, challenging and developing managers at all levels and your customer focus will be second to none. From working with managers to resolve complex employment relations issues, to supporting them in developing their workforce whilst reviewing and developing policies and procedure the role brings variety and opportunity to make a difference in HBC.

Wide expertise in employee relations will be pivotal success in this role as managers will require support with disciplinary, grievance and bullying related cases where Business Partners will attend hearings to support them and give advice on letters and outcomes of these.

Developing and maintaining strong working relationships whilst being able to influence and negotiate with colleagues at all levels will be a key strength. You will be credible, reliable and act with integrity and have great ability to coach and mentor others to deliver positive outcomes and high performance.
