Senior Transport Economist
We are expanding our transport analysis team to support a range of exciting projects throughout the City Region, to help deliver on our ambitions. The transport analysis team provide the evidence to support policies, strategies and investment decisions.
We’re investing hundreds of millions of pounds to deliver the Mayor’s vision for the London-style integrated transport network that our region needs and deserves. We’re delivering a new fleet of trains on our Merseyrail network, new stations, zero emission hydrogen buses, a safer 212km cycling network, and smarter tickets, meaning that we are well on the way to delivering the Mayor’s vision.
We are currently producing Local Transport Plan 4, setting policies for the City Region. We have successfully negotiated an allocation of £710m of funding from the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements (2022-2027); this represents the biggest funding allocation in our short history to be spent on bus, rail and active travel. Work is now underway to develop the place-based pipeline for the next round of CRSTS funding.
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Transport Economist to join LCRCA’s Evidence, Research and Intelligence Service Area. This is an exciting opportunity to support the £710m City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) programme and the development of the next Pipeline of schemes.
About the person
We are looking for an individual to provide transport modelling and economic appraisal support to the £710m CRSTS programme and the development of the next Pipeline. This role is an important part of the scheme development and assurance process - demonstrating Value for Money through economic appraisal is a core part of the LCR National Local Growth Assurance Framework and projects must satisfy this requirement before they can progress to delivery.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background including excellent knowledge of DfT guidance and the ability to develop proportionate approaches. You will review and advise on the scope and outputs of economic cases, including transport modelling. You will over-see or undertake transport data and economic analysis for scheme development, including options assessment, which will play a particularly important role in the development of the next Pipeline of schemes.
You will have an excellent technical understanding of transport data and modelling/appraisal; and have the ability to interpret and communicate complex information in a clear and digestible format in order to support effective decisions. You will work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
Team members should be self-starting, collaborative and ambitious, offer fresh ideas, and who demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based policy and investment, and a determination to deliver for the people of the Liverpool City Region.
If you would like to have an informal conversation about the role, please contact Sarah Pierce: sarah.pierce@liverpoolcityregion-ca.gov.uk
