Principal Transport Analyst

We are expanding our transport analysis team to support a range of exciting projects throughout the City Region, to help deliver on our ambitions. The transport analysis team provide the evidence to support policies, strategies and investment decisions.

We’re investing hundreds of millions of pounds to deliver the Mayor’s vision for the London-style integrated transport network that our region needs and deserves. We’re delivering a new fleet of trains on our Merseyrail network, new stations, zero emission hydrogen buses, a safer 212km cycling network, and smarter tickets, meaning that we are well on the way to delivering the Mayor’s vision.

We are currently producing Local Transport Plan 4, setting policies for the City Region. We have successfully negotiated an allocation of £710m of funding from the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements (2022-2027); this represents the biggest funding allocation in our short history to be spent on bus, rail and active travel. Work is now underway to develop the place-based pipeline for the next round of CRSTS funding.

We are looking for a highly motivated Principal Transport Analyst to join LCRCA’s Evidence, Research and Intelligence Service Area. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of transport in the LCR and provide meaningful, evidence-based analysis. You will have the opportunity to contribute to and support the development of the team.

About the person

We are looking for an individual who can provide evidence and intelligence support on a range of transport projects. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background (including excellent knowledge of DfT guidance) but also be able to see the ‘bigger picture’ and provide strategic advice, particularly recognising the importance of a place-based approach and the role of transport as an enabler for economic and social change.

The role will include management and technical input to projects incorporating transport data, analysis, modelling and economics, including transport business cases. You will develop projects from initial scoping to implementation to communication of findings, working as part of a team and on your own initiative.

You will have the ability develop proportionate approaches and react quickly to a changing landscape. You will be able to interpret and communicate complex information in a clear and digestible format to support effective decision making and be comfortable presenting to senior members of the organisation.

You will work with LCRCA transport models, either managing projects run by external consultants or using in-house models. You will review and advise on the scope and outputs of transport modelling and the economic dimension of transport business cases.

Team members should be self-starting, collaborative and ambitious, offer fresh ideas, and who demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based policy and investment, and a determination to deliver for the people of the Liverpool City Region.
