Building Services Engineer - Mechanical

Role overview:

Reporting to the Principal Officer - Mechanical Engineering, the Building Services Engineer - Mechanical, will lead in developing and delivering an integrated mechanical services function for the overall Merseytravel / LCRCA estate including tunnels, bus stations, Ferries terminal buildings, HQ building within a matrix structure (utilising either internal or external resources as appropriate) with particular focus and expertise in HVAC systems.


Key role and responsibilities:

  • Lead a project team to deliver an effective and efficient mechanical systems maintenance function for the organisation.
  • Develop and deliver refurbishment and renewal programmes for plant and equipment.
  • Deliver innovative solutions to improve efficiency and operational availability, and decarbonisation of the estate.

Required skills and knowledge:

  • Educated to HNC/HND level in a relevant discipline.
  • Delivery of projects in a mechanical related environment, in particular HVAC plant, BMS control systems, compressors and pressurised mechanical systems, and passenger lifts.
  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of procuring and managing external consultants and contractors.
  • Experience of delivering capital works programmes.
  • Effective organisational skills.
  • Computer literate with a high degree of ICT skills.
  • Competent in the use of programme and project management tools and techniques.
  • A current full driving licence (manual vehicles)
  • A commitment to the LCR and an understanding of its stakeholders.
