Commissioning Manager

Knowsley Council are seeking to recruit one enthusiastic and motivated Commissioning Manager to join its Whole Life Commissioning Team. Knowsley is a dynamic local authority which is seeking to transform the way that services are delivered in partnership with other public sector organisations, local businesses, and communities. The Council is committed to reducing local inequalities and ensuring that Knowsley residents are able to access necessary support.

You will be responsible for ensuring evidenced based, high quality and cost-effective commissioning of services. We are interested in hearing from individuals who want to make a positive difference to the lives of others and who have the knowledge skills and experience to develop and implement commissioning strategies for a portfolio of services in areas of Adult Social Care, Children’s Social Care and Public Health Services.

Specific experience in Children’s Social Care Commissioning with a focus on the residential care market would be beneficial but is not essential. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential to the role as there is a need to work closely with a range of key stakeholders, including Senior Managers, Elected Members, practitioners, health commissioners, service users, children and young people, residents and carers.

We promote applications from all sections of the community, regardless of background, belief, or identity, recognising the value that diversity brings to our organisation. We particularly welcome applications from individuals from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds and candidates with disabilities as we acknowledge their underrepresentation in our workforce.

We will consider requests for flexible working.  For most roles, the following types of flexibility are usually possible: flexible hours, working from home, compressed hours, part-time. The office base in Huyton is an easily accessible location (15 mins to Liverpool, 30 mins to Manchester by rail). Staff also have access to staff rewards/discounts including childcare vouchers, cycle & technology purchase schemes, gym membership, and a host of other local discounts

We reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the specified date should we receive sufficient applicants.

At Knowsley we value our applicants and want them to feel well-informed and welcomed. If you have any questions about this specific job role or what it is like to work at Knowsley, please contact Jill O’Neil tel no: 07500102185.

Interviews will take place week commencing 1st July 2024
