Head of Education

Knowsley Council is determined to improve the life chances of all residents in the borough. Many of our children and young people attend good and outstanding early years and education settings and our school improvement journey has been a positive one. However, we now want more for our children; we want every child to succeed, and we need your help to make this happen.

We are seeking a Head of Education who can drive forward our ambition for all children and young people to have the best start in life and ensure they achieve the best possible outcomes as they transition to adulthood. You will lead on and develop the following service areas:

  • Delivery of the Council’s statutory functions in relation to education;
  • Adult learning and skills;
  • Family Hub and Best Start in Life Programme;
  • The Knowsley Youth Offer.

You will need to be an outstanding leader with an exceptional track record in improving education for all whilst also understanding the critical social factors that can influence how a child develops and learns. You will also be passionate and determined to deliver and have excellent skills in developing partnerships and high performing teams. You will need to have an interest and understanding of the needs of children and young people and be able to lead our transformation plans for our children that will enable them to succeed both in childhood and in their adult life.
