Head of HR and Workforce

Head of HR and Workforce

Sefton is a vibrant local authority on a journey of aspiration and ambition as it works towards delivering its exciting Vision 2030.  This journey is shared with our partners and communities as we strive to ensure Sefton is a confident and connected Borough.

Sefton has the best of both worlds, from the busy and diverse city of Liverpool to the south, to miles of fantastic coastline and green spaces in the north; indeed, the borough is internationally recognised for its outstanding natural beauty and commitment to sustainability.  Sefton also has a strong track record of partnership working and place leadership and has a motivated and dedicated workforce that is resilient and adaptable.

We are currently seeking an outstanding new Head of HR and Workforce to lead the delivery of a progressive, modern and efficient HR service, which includes payroll and transactional services, occupational health and the workforce learning and development offer.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate Resources and Customer Services, you will provide strong, visible and proactive leadership and a collaborative and business partner approach to the Council’s workforce.  You will also make sure that all regulatory, compliance, professional standards and employment law are in place, ensuring the Council operates in line with local and national policy.

Working closely with elected councillors especially Cabinet members, you will support them in undertaking their community leadership and policy and decision-making roles.

We are seeking candidates with great people skills and a determination to support change and transformation.  You will of course also have the appropriate knowledge of employment law and practice and of workforce transformation, job evaluation, work processes and budget management as well as CIPD membership. If you have significant experience of providing strategic advice on people matters in a large complex multi-profession organisation and want to support our vision for Sefton, then we would love to hear from you.
