A bit about us:

Liverpool is home to vibrant, energetic and engaged communities, people who take real ownership of their local area and are passionate about making our city a better place. We've got ambitious targets to meet by 2025 and we need people who are driven, dynamic and ready to deliver the very best for our communities.  Public service is more important than ever, and this role represents a real opportunity to make a difference to our communities by transforming the way we work and placing our residents at the heart of everything we do.

Working at Liverpool City Council provides an opportunity to contribute to your community and make a positive impact on the lives of residents. Our values shape how we work to deliver public services, and how we communicate with the residents we serve. We care about the best outcomes for local people, through our public services.

We are proud of our world-famous thriving city with its rich culture, affordable housing, stunning waterfront and our beautiful green spaces – there’s really something for everyone!

The Role

Liverpool City Council is embarking on an exciting transformation portfolio of unprecedented breadth and scale. As a result, we’re expanding our Transformation Team and we're hiring two fixed-term Project Managers to work on the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system replacement programme, until 30th September 2027.

The ERP system replacement programme will bring in a new Finance and HR system for the Council, and will improve new ways of working with a focus on eliminating manual processes, embracing self-service technology and supporting an agile workforce. The roles will report to the Systems Programme Manager.

Our Project Managers make a big difference to the people who live and work in Liverpool. You have the chance to contribute to a new team, and deliver real, tangible improvements throughout the organisation. We are working at the heart of this transformation and there has never been a more exciting time to join our team.

You will scope and plan ERP projects that will deliver benefits to the Council, work closely with directorate leads in managing the delivery of activities for each phase of the programme, ensuring timescales are met, risks and issues are managed, and providing support with appropriate reporting.

We’d love to hear from you if you’re passionate about delivering change. Alongside the foundation of a project management qualification or equivalent experience, you’ll need to be able to clearly scope and plan projects and ensure projects are supported by the right governance. You need to be able to understand what makes a project worth doing and lead the project team around this shared vision. You’ll be able to manage the risks and issues affecting the project, as well as monitor the project finances and resources.  You’ll need to have good interpersonal skills to engage with the relevant stakeholders involved in the project. Having experience of working on ERP-replacement projects is a benefit but not essential.

Our offer to you:

  • At least 27 days holiday rising to 32 after 5 years service.- option to purchase further days
  • Agile working - A “Flexibility First” approach to Agile working where flexibility is the norm rather than the exception.
