1 to 1 SEND Teaching Assistant Level 2 (KS2)

The Governors of St. Jerome’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to support an upper key stage two pupil with a complex medical condition and additional learning needs. The role would involve 1 to 1 support within the class under the guidance and direction of the class teacher.

The post is 27.5 hours per week, to start in September 2024.

The position is fixed for one year as it is dependent on High Needs Funding and will cease when the child leaves the school. This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and safer recruitment checks.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a recognised teaching assistant qualification at a minimum of Level 2 or similar.
  • Has experience of working with children who have SEND on a 1 to 1 basis or within a group; supporting their learning, social, emotional and medical needs.
  • Has experience of working with primary aged children with additional needs and their parents.
  • Is genuine in their desire to work with children as part of an inclusive, committed and caring team.
  • Is enthusiastic, flexible and has a sense of humour.
  • Is able to work as part of a team.
  • Sets high expectations for themselves and children.
  • The post is to start as soon as all checks are completed and subject to satisfactory references.
