Knowsley Children’s Social Care is seeking to recruit a part time Practice Improvement Officer.  This innovative post is key to our commitment to embed excellent social work practice, helping to make a difference to children and families in Knowsley.

The Practice Improvement Officer will be a qualified and experienced Social Worker, ideally with a Practice Educator qualification who will support practitioners across Children’s Social Care through the delivery of training, mentoring and quality assurance.  You will support practitioners at each stage of their career development – from the ASYE programme through to management.    

The role involves contributing to practice improvement activity through the delivery of training, mentoring and audit activity.  You will support managers with identifying and acting upon areas of need based upon quality assurance findings, as well as developments in social care policy and practice. You will gather data, maintain a high level of record keeping and provide reports to managers and senior leaders.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a registered Social Worker and may hold a Practice Educator qualification.
  • Has experience of supporting and supervising learners and an understanding of adult learning theories.
  • Is experienced in the delivery of training – in person and online.
  • Has excellent communication and coaching skills and is passionate about supporting learners and developing social work practice.
