We have a new vacancy coming up from November 2024 for a Cook in Charge at Newfield School kitchen in Thornton. Average daily meal numbers 55 pupils,15 staff, and 15 to 20 meals despatched to Jigsaw Nursery.
There are two staff. The cook in charge and one general assistant.

We are committed to making sure our school lunches are tasty and nutritious, as we believe that school food is closely linked to pupil behaviour and educational attainment.
Job Requirements
The post presents an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified person (706/1, 706/2 or equivalent) and someone with good organisation, cooking, and presentation skills. The successful applicant will need to ensure that the service suits the requirements of their pupils, teachers and parents and work closely with the school to develop the operation.
You will be required to attend a half day course to achieve a level 2 award in food safety.
(This course is being undertaken online at present every three years)

Due to the nature of the work, this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful candidate must be able to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure (via the Disclosure & Barring Service DBS) in order to be appointed to the post.
