An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ICT Technical Officer – Level 1 to join our existing IT team based within the Council Head Office in Widnes, Cheshire.

This role will support the provision of a highly secure government IT platform linked to M365, Azure and on-premises technical platforms while managing hundreds of third-party applications across the Authority, its Schools and Partners.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to work within a busy datacentre environment, wanting to learn and work toward developing the latest skills within the IT Department.

This role will involve working with other ICT Technical Officer(s).

As an ICT Technical Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Writing and updating documentation, procedures and policies for existing IT systems, services or equipment.
  • Helping ensure all security, backup and disaster recovery arrangements for hardware and software are in place and operating correctly.
  • Checking and maintaining backups.
  • Patching and updating of servers and systems.
  • General troubleshooting and helpdesk calls.
  • Maintaining ICT systems.
  • Building new servers, physical or virtual when required.
  • Providing support and cover for the operations team.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in working within a busy IT environment.
  • Experience with server OSes and Virtualization, and Microsoft products, including Azure and 365
  • Able to demonstrate experience supporting and building servers, both physical and virtual.
  • Highly organised and prepared to multitask effectively.
  • Able to work as part of a team to deliver an excellent service.
  • Willing to accept ownership for given tasks.
  • Flexible in your approach to work.

  • Able to take a positive approach to supporting others.
