Registered Manager
Sefton is a diverse, ambitious local authority and Children’s Services is on an exciting improvement journey. We are an innovative, forward-thinking place to work and our workforce are caring and welcoming people, committed to making a difference to the lives of our children, young people and families.
We are looking for a Registered Manager for one of our Children’s Home in Sefton. The home has recently been refurbished to a very high standard, is registered with Ofsted and we plan to re-open the home in the new year, to provide residential respite/‘short breaks’ to support young people on the edge of care. The home will provide residential respite/short breaks, outreach and a therapeutic space where children and families can be supported through an individualised plan, working alongside the vulnerable adolescent service and other partners, with the aim of preventing family breakdown.
We are ambitious to serve the children and young people and their families with a committed, well trained and supported staff team who understand their needs, have a good insight into the lens of trauma, employ radical empathy and work closely with them and partners. We have partnered with an internationally respected psychologist to develop our trauma informed model and training. We realise that just as trauma affects young people and families, to support the team to remain open and engaged, they will be held within an enriched model of training, support and supervision.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of the provision and the workforce from the outset:
You will have overall management and responsibility for the home, including staff and children and young people, with the freedom to recruit your own team and make the job your own.
We are looking for a talented and highly skilled individual to join our team in Children’s Services and #MakeADifference to children, young people and families.
You will be expected to manage, develop and lead the Children’s home and deliver the highest levels of care and support to children and young people, providing care that is focused on obtaining the best outcomes for each child and family. You will also work closely with the vulnerable adolescent service.
Our offer to you:
- A unique opportunity to be bold and brave, implementing a new model to ensure that more children can be therapeutically reparented within their families and communities.
- Freedom to recruit your own team and mould the role alongside us
- An enriched model of training, support and supervision. Excellent development opportunities
- A comprehensive induction programme
- A wide variety of career progression routes bespoke to individual training and development needs as identified in annual PDRs
- Partnership with Research in Practice, providing access to online webinars, podcasts and materials linked to the latest research and policy updates to support your CPD and inform evidence-based reports
- 28 days annual leave rising to 32 days with 5 years continual service and 8 bank holidays
- Enhanced sick pay scheme, maternity/adoption leave pay and maternity support leave
- Access to free eye tests and where appropriate, contribution towards spectacles
- Discounted gym membership with all Active Sefton gyms
- Cycle to work scheme
- Access to local benefits and discounts on products and services
- Occupational Health Service available to advise on work related health issues including CBT sessions
- Commitment to supporting your emotional and mental health with access to a free and confidential employee counselling service
- Relocation packages as appropriate
What we want from you:
- NVQ Level 5 Leadership & Management for children’s residential childcare or the willingness to complete this
- Within the last 5 years, worked for at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential
care of children;
- Worked for at least one year in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff
- Excellent knowledge of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
- A committed professional who places children at the heart of their practice
This is an exciting opportunity to lead lasting and meaningful change for young people, to re-experience family life as a place where they will be loved and accepted. If this speaks to you come and join us.
