Job Advertisement: Senior Technician – Highway Safety Team
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Technician to join our Highway Safety Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the safety and functionality of our highway network while developing your career in a dynamic and supportive environment.
About the Role
As a Senior Technician, you will oversee and monitor minor maintenance and highway improvement works carried out by the team. Your responsibilities will include supervising projects, ensuring quality standards, and collaborating with internal and external partners to achieve the team’s objectives. You will also be involved in accident analysis, traffic regulation orders (TROs), and ensuring compliance with the authority’s statutory duties and responsibilities.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your technical and leadership skills in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary workplace.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Degree or other recognised engineering-based qualification.
- Knowledge of Highway Maintenance, Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs), and Accident Analysis.
- Used GIS systems and experience with the procurement of works.
- Experience of working with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with elected members, members of the public and other stakeholders.
- Prior experience in a highway-related position, ideally with an understanding or willingness to learn about the authority’s responsibilities concerning traffic regulation and safety.
