Full-time, Permanent Primary SENDCO and Classroom Teacher

MPS/UPS plus SEN 2 Allowance (£5285 - SEN 2)

We have a well-established Forest School and we have recently joined the Nature Friendly Schools’ initiative.

The school has for many years, brokered the services of a Chartered Educational Psychologist and Speech Therapist. We are accredited as a Trauma and Attachment Aware school.

Governors are committed to supporting staff in their development by ensuring access to high-quality CPD.

Working closely with our Safeguarding and Attendance Lead will be central to this role.

The Governors wish to appoint an exceptional and experienced SENDCO. They will need to have a strategic overview of provision for children with SEN or a disability across the school, as well as monitor and review the quality of provision. The SENDCO will also be expected to fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A thorough understanding of the primary curriculum from EYFS to Year 6
  • Experience of establishing systems and processes to support a highly effective SEND provision
  • Ability to develop inclusivity within the classroom
  • Ability to provide strategic direction and development of SEND provision, leading and managing staff and making efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources.
  • Exceptional communication skills with children, parents, teachers, leadership and external stakeholders (Educational Psychologists / Speech and Language specialists etc.)
  • Evidence of being an outstanding teacher, passionate about education and dedicated to maintaining and continuing to improve our standards with high expectations for all. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of an effective team.

 

Applications are welcome from candidates with a successful track record of teaching pupils with special needs. A NASENCO qualification and prior experience in a similar post or position of responsibility are essential. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a member of SLT.
  • Have considerable, successful experience in the primary sector, preferably in more than one key stage and school setting.
  • Be passionate and single-minded about identifying and championing the needs of children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Be given non-teaching time to enable you to fulfil your role.
  • Have the professional skills and knowledge to work effectively with children, colleagues, fellow professionals, parents and carers.
