Senior Insurance Officer
Sefton Council’s Insurance Risk & Audit Service is seeking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated, and enthusiastic Senior Insurance Officer to join the Insurance Team.
The person appointed will provide a comprehensive Insurance Service to all Services of the Council and ensure that adequate cover is in place to protect the Council’s assets and liabilities.
The successful applicant will support the Council in developing and implementing innovative improvements to reduce risk, identifying poor practices and to provide recommendations for improvement in systems and processes.
You will contribute to the leadership and development of the Risk & Audit Service as a whole.
To ensure that Insurance Team members are appropriately managed, developed, motivated, and supported in order to achieve performance goals for the team.
You must have the ability to demonstrate a commitment to the delivery and development of the Insurance Service along with a knowledge of the following: -
- Knowledge of Insurance cover requirements for a large organisation, in order to ensure the Council has adequate Insurance to meet its liabilities
- An understanding of the legislative requirements associated with all matters Insurance and Claims Handling
- Knowledge and understanding of claims handling processes and investigation processes relating to Claims in order to provide the Council with robust systems / processes to all for defence of claims as appropriate
- Knowledge of Insurance & Broker tender processes
- Ability to lead, motivate and train a specialised team
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise a large and wide ranging / varied work load and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people internal and external to the Council including Senior Managers
We are seeking an individual who is either professionally qualified Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII or ACII) or who is willing to study.
