Our Team:
The Macmillan Welfare Rights Officer post is based within the Welfare Rights team. This is within Halton`s Chief Executives Directorate and is part of the Benefits family that assists in maximising the income and resources available to residents of the borough. You will help provide advice and practical assistance to customers, who may be under the most stressful of circumstances, to claim their entitlements.
Staff will be based at the DCBL Stadium in Widnes and may have the opportunity to hybrid work. Service delivery can be both through the Council`s One Stop Shop`s & by home visiting. The team can utilise flexible working and this post carries an Essential Car User Allowance.
Hours: 37 per week
Your Contributions:
- You will have 5 GCSE`s at grade C or above (including English and Maths) or equivalent qualifications.
- Good written and communication skills
- .Ability to write letters, complete forms with a good standard of grammar and spelling
- High level of numerical skills
- Ability to work as part of a team often working under pressure at peak periods
- Experience of calculating/ advising/ assessing national welfare benefit entitlements
- A good awareness of the impact of Cancer and other life limiting illnesses on the lives of those directly affected by it, and their immediate support networks.
