Trainee Client Adviser – Youth Employment Programmes/Trailblazer
Are you passionate about helping young people aged 16–24 take their first steps into employment? Do you have a background in customer service or enjoy working with people?
If so, this is a fantastic opportunity to join our team at Sefton@Work and begin a rewarding career in Information, Advice and Guidance. We’re recruiting Trainee Client Advisers to support our experienced team in delivering targeted employment support to young adults, including those referred through the DWP Youth Trailblazer programme, who are currently out of work and seeking direction.
You’ll receive structured on-the-job training, mentoring, and the chance to gain industry-recognised qualifications to help you grow your career in the employability sector.
Based in our Bootle and Southport offices, with regular travel to outreach venues, you’ll work with a small caseload of young clients, helping them build confidence, develop skills, and move closer to employment.
During your training, you will learn to:
- Engage with young clients via phone and in person to welcome them to the service and explain available support.
- Conduct initial meetings using diagnostic tools to identify aspirations, challenges, and suitable pathways into work or training.
- Help clients create professional CVs, supporting statements, and cover letters tailored to job applications.
- Provide structured job search support, including registering on job sites and building strong digital profiles.
- Support access to financial assistance through our Employability Fund.
- Track client progress into employment and help build their confidence, motivation, and job search strategies.
- Accurately record all client interactions and maintain up-to-date records.
- Prepare clients for interviews through mock sessions and assessment activities.
- Meet monthly performance targets and Key Performance Indicators.
You will have:
- A genuine interest in supporting young people to explore their goals and take steps toward employment or training.
- A commitment to complete a minimum of a Level 3 Advice and Guidance or a Level 4 Employment Practitioner qualification via the apprenticeship route.
- Awareness of the challenges young people face in accessing work and training.
- Ability to build knowledge of local opportunities across Sefton and the wider Liverpool City Region.
- Confidence working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to finding solutions.
- Good digital literacy and accuracy in data entry, including Microsoft Office and web-based systems.
Closing Date: Midnight on Wednesday 26th November 2025
Provisional Interview Date: Week Commencing 8th December 2025
