Teacher of Religious Education

Job Advert – Teacher of Religious Education

Required for January 2026 (or later): a committed teacher of Religious Education to join our recently awarded Outstanding school.  Our latest CSI Inspection praised the school as “incredible”, and highlighted the department’s strong dedication to professional growth, shaped by bespoke training and collaboration with the Liverpool Archdiocese.  We are seeking a colleague who will enjoy working within our outstanding and well-established department.

This is an excellent opportunity for trainee teachers, ECTs or experienced colleagues to join a department that is expanding due to its increased excellence and growing importance across the school. Pupils and staff are immensely proud to be part of the supportive and welcoming community at CtK, where a calm and respectful atmosphere enables pupils to thrive. We have very low staff turnover, reflecting leaders’ strong commitment to staff workload and work-life balance. Teachers are able to take their PPA time at home, ensuring they have the space needed to plan and prepare high-quality lessons.

The post would suit an ambitious teacher seeking a stimulating, supportive working environment. The teacher appointed will be an excellent practitioner, able to engage and challenge pupils to enable them to achieve their best. You will ensure that the highest possible standards in the department are met and that all pupils reach their full potential.  The successful candidate must be able to: establish good relationships with pupils to inspire learning; promote interest in the subjects and ensure high achievement; be able to work well with colleagues in the department and across the school; have commitment and initiative and a ‘can do’ approach, willing to make a contribution to the Catholic life of the school and ensure all our pupils achieve the best possible outcomes.

Christ the King Catholic High School is a mixed 11-19 school in Southport and we are a school community underpinned by Gospel values and principles.  It is our core purpose to prepare our young people for the exciting challenges and opportunities ahead.  Our curriculum inspires a lifelong passion for learning and equips our pupils with confidence, skills, and attitude to lead successful and fulfilling lives.

Closing date for all applications is midday on Wednesday 10th December 2025. Successful candidates for interview will be informed that afternoon and interviews will take place on Tuesday 16th December 2025. The interview process will consist of a lesson observation, a lesson planning task and a panel interview.  Applications are required to be completed using the CES application form attached. Supporting statements, no more than two sides of A4, should address your suitability for the role.

Due to the nature of the work, this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.  We are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and young people.  All applicants will be subject to social media checks and successful applicants to a fully-enhanced DBS.
