More Information

Events & Marketing Officer

Southport Market is more than just a place to eat and drink; it’s the vibrant, beating heart of Southport social scene. Housed in a beautiful historic building, we are a thriving hub of independent food traders, artisan producers, and a community eager for great events.

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Events and Marketing Officer to join our small, dedicated team. You will be the driving force behind making Southport Market a must-visit destination.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on role where you will own the market’s calendar and voice. You will be responsible for conceptualising, planning, and delivering a diverse programme of events that excite our local community and attract visitors from across the region. Simultaneously, you will craft and execute our marketing strategy across all channels, telling the story of our traders, our events, and our unique atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Events Strategy & Delivery: Develop and manage a yearly calendar of innovative events (e.g., live music nights, themed food festivals, family workshops, seasonal celebrations, trader collaborations).
  • End-to-End Event Management: From initial concept and budgeting, to logistics, supplier liaison, on-the-day coordination, and post-event evaluation.
  • Marketing Mastery: Create and implement multi-channel marketing plans to promote the market, its traders, and its events.
  • Brand Guardian: Ensure all communications are on-brand, vibrant, and accurately reflect the market’s unique personality.
  • Partnership Building: Forge relationships with local businesses, media, influencers, and community groups to amplify our reach.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Monitor campaign performance, social media insights, and footfall data to report on ROI and inform future strategies.

Who You Are:

  • A creative thinker with a proven track record of planning and delivering successful public events.
  • A marketing all-rounder, confident with social media, email marketing, basic graphic design (Canva/Adobe).
  • A superb communicator and storyteller, able to write compelling copy and build relationships.
  • Highly organised, with excellent project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • A proactive self-starter who is resourceful and happy working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Passionate about food, drink, independent businesses, and the Southport community.
  • Preferably have 2+ years of experience in a similar events/marketing role.
