Junior Project Manager
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority at a pivotal moment in the development of our AI Programme. As a Junior Project Manager, you’ll help turn ambition into delivery by supporting a portfolio of AI‑enabled projects that explore, pilot, and embed artificial intelligence in a public‑sector context.
You’ll work across a range of projects and partners, helping to bring structure, momentum, and good governance to complex and evolving work. While this is not a technical role, you’ll work closely with technical specialists and will need to be comfortable understanding AI concepts well enough to challenge assumptions, surface risks, and support responsible decision‑making. A strong emphasis runs throughout the programme on ethical, transparent, and responsible use of AI.
This role is well suited to someone early in their project management career who enjoys working across sectors, thrives in ambiguity, and is motivated by delivering work that has real public value.
About the person
We’re looking for someone who is delivery‑driven, highly organised, and confident working in fast‑moving and sometimes ambiguous environments. You may already be working in a project support, programme support, or junior project management role and be ready to take on greater responsibility.
You’ll be an excellent organiser with strong written communication skills, able to produce clear reports, briefings, and documentation for a range of audiences. You’ll be comfortable working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and curious enough about AI and emerging technologies to engage critically with new ideas, without needing to be a technical expert.
Above all, you’ll bring a strong interest in how AI can be used responsibly and ethically in the public sector, alongside a collaborative mindset and a commitment to delivering meaningful outcomes.
