Salary: Leadership Scale L18-L24
Contract: Permanent | Full-time
Start date: 1st September 2026
A once-in-a-career leadership opportunity
The Governing Body of Lydiate Primary and Nursery School are seeking to appoint an
exceptional, visionary Headteacher to lead our school through an exciting and transformative
period of growth, expansion and strategic change.
This vacancy has arisen following the forthcoming retirement of our current Headteacher, who
has led Lydiate Primary and Nursery School with dedication and distinction for nine years. Under
her leadership, the school has gone from strength to strength, creating a strong platform from
which our next Headteacher will lead the school into its next exciting chapter.
This role offers a rare opportunity to shape the future of a thriving school community as we
prepare to build a brand-new, state-of-the-art school building, due to be ready in 2027, expanding
from a one-form entry to a two-form entry school. The salary being offered reflects this.
In addition, the Governing Body has formally voted to transition Lydiate Primary School to
academy status, with the intention of joining Southport Learning Trust. This marks an important
next step in securing long-term sustainability, collaboration and opportunity for our pupils, staff
and wider community. Our new Headteacher will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the
school through this transition, working closely with governors, Trust colleagues and stakeholders
to ensure continuity, stability and ambition.
