Lead Principal Projects Officer
About the Role
Are you enthusiastic about increasing access to and participation in walking, wheeling and cycling across the Liverpool City Region? Would you like to make a real difference to how people move around the City Region, both now and in the future?
An opportunity has arisen for a Lead Principal Project Officer within the Active Travel Team, within the Place Directorate of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA).
You will help us deliver the Metro Mayor’s ambition for walking, wheeling and cycling becoming the preferred ways of travelling shorter distances by the people of the Liverpool City Region. You will support us with making active travel easier by improving connections between our public transport hubs (like railway stations) and walking and cycling routes and, in doing so, deliver the mayor’s vision for a London-style, integrated, transport system.
You will be involved with projects that work directly with schools, pupils, parents/carers and the local community, through to promoting and supporting the development and delivery of new infrastructure, collaborating with our Constituent Local Authorities, and funding partners such as Active Travel England.
The main purpose of the post will include, but not be restricted to supporting the Active Travel team manager in:
- • Providing strategic transport level advice to support the development of the LCR’s transport priorities, via the early identification of potential funding opportunities, development of proposals and the subsequent development and review of transport business cases and funding applications.
- • Working with colleagues and stakeholders to meet LCRCA requirements for transport business case development, specifically in relation to active travel.
- • Providing strategic advice and coordinating the development of capital and revenue projects within LCR transport programmes and subsequent monitoring and evaluation.
- • Developing and managing the prioritisation of active travel schemes with key stakeholders to help secure funding for City Region transport projects.
- • Ensuring that the design review process is implemented in line with the expectations of Active Travel England.
- • Day-to-day management of the Active Travel Officers.
About the person
Our ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion for active travel and sustainable transport, supported by a degree in a relevant subject along with experience of managing a small team.
