Following an internal promotion we are seeking a motivated and proactive Planning Enforcement Officer to play a key role within our Planning Service. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward‑thinking authority committed to high‑quality development, robust enforcement, and excellent customer service.

As our Planning Enforcement Officer, you will work with the Senior Enforcement Officer and the wider Development Management team to investigate alleged breaches of planning control in accordance with our adopted planning enforcement plan.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing formal notices, taking part in appeals, prosecutions, and negotiations to secure positive outcomes. The role will involve working collaboratively across the Planning Service and with internal and external stakeholders in services like Legal, Building Control, Environmental Health etc

Contribute to continuous improvement by helping shape procedures, reviewing processes, and supporting performance monitoring.

You will have experience in public sector enforcement and must be able to demonstrate how your experience in investigating and enforcing matters have led to positive outcomes. You will also have excellent communication skills and will have significant experience of negotiating and influencing to ensure that high quality outcomes are achieved

Experience in planning or a closely related area is desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in enforcement or more broadly town planning who is looking to develop their career in a supportive environment. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and negotiation, skills with an ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
