Family Worker
An exciting and fulfilling opportunity has arisen within the Birkenhead Family Hubs team for a permanent, full-time Family Worker (Monday - Friday). The Family Worker will specifically support families antenatally and those with young children up to the age of 5 years; it is therefore vital that you have a sound knowledge of child development in the early years and an understanding of how trauma and other vulnerabilities such as poverty, domestic abuse and inconsistent parenting can impact on young children's developmental outcomes.
About the Role:
The role of the Family Worker is to support families with young children primarily in their home environment, delivering evidence based, timely interventions which improve the child's outcomes and prevents any further escalation of need. The Family Worker team are committed to the systemic practice framework, which promotes a strengths-based approach based on developing positive relationships with families and other professionals to deliver robust, measurable support plans working alongside the family. The team covers the Birkenhead locality & the successful candidate will be based across both Brassey Gardens & Rock Ferry Family Hubs.
About the Candidate:
This role is varied and fast paced, so you will need to have the skills to manage these challenges appropriately; you will receive regular case supervision & engage in welfare-based conversations to ensure that your emotional wellbeing & resilience are prioritised. You must have a positive approach to supporting families to implement sustainable change & feel confident in being professionally curious. You'll need to be an effective communicator both with parents/carers, but most importantly with young children whose voices are often not heard - you must be able to put the child at the heart of your decision making & approach to managing risk.
