Community Cohesion Officer – 2-year fixed term contract
Do you want to help strengthen communities, build trust, and support safer neighbourhoods across Wirral?
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and flexible individual to undertake an exciting new role, within the Council's Community Safety Service, to assist in the delivery of a new Community Cohesion Programme across Wirral.
About the Role:
As a Community Cohesion Officer, you’ll play a key part in delivering Wirral’s Community Cohesion Programme. You’ll work with community groups, schools, housing providers, and statutory partners to improve cohesion, tackle hate crime, support positive relationships, and respond to issues that may impact community harmony.
Your work will include coordinating small‑grant programmes, supporting multi‑agency interventions, gathering insight and data, organising engagement events, and helping partners collaborate effectively. It’s a role for someone who enjoys variety, problem‑solving, and making a visible difference.
About the Candidate:
We’re looking for a motivated candidate who can build trust, stay calm under pressure, and communicate confidently with a wide range of people. You’ll bring strong organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently. You should have excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with confidence to handle sensitive or challenging situations.
Experience in community engagement, partnership working, community safety, or grant administration is desirable but not essential — what matters most is your enthusiasm, adaptability, and commitment to supporting stronger, safer communities.
A current driving licence is essential.
The post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) at the appropriate level and Non-Police Personnel Level 2 (NPPV2F) clearance.
