We are seeking a motivated and politically aware individual to support the Reform UK Group as a Political Assistant. This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to local leadership, support elected members, and help shape priorities that deliver positive outcomes for residents across the borough.

About the Role

The Political Assistant will play an important role in enabling the Reform UK Group to operate effectively and provide strong leadership within the Council.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide professional and strategic support to the ruling group, helping elected members translate priorities into clear, coordinated action
  • Contribute to the smooth running of political business and strengthen the group’s capacity to lead and influence
  • Prepare concise and accurate briefings for the Leader and Cabinet members
  • Track political developments and ensure timely information is available to support effective decision-making
  • Support the development of policy positions and political priorities
  • Coordinate internal communications and assist members in preparing for meetings, community engagement, and strategic discussions

Employees can regularly work away from Council workspaces (including home or other locations), alongside required office-based working. The balance between remote and office-based working is determined at service level based on operational need, however, there has been a minimum specification that staff will work at least 2 days from an office-based location.
