Project Manager
Liverpool City Council is embarking on an exciting transformation portfolio of unprecedented breadth and scale. As a result, we’re expanding our Transformation Team and we're hiring a project manager to take these important projects through from inception to closure.
The transformation portfolio touches on all areas of Council activity. Projects will improve our customer service, influence how we manage our roads, improve how our residents receive care, and much more. Our project managers make a big difference to the people who live and work in Liverpool.
You have the chance to contribute to a new and growing team, and deliver real, tangible improvements throughout the organisation. We are working at the heart of this transformation and there has never been a more exciting time to join our team.
Our roles operate on a hybrid approach to allow flexibility between home working and office working at the Cunard Building.
Responsibilities:
- You will scope and plan a number of exciting and transformational projects that will deliver benefits to the people of Liverpool
- You will work closely with the project team to safely deliver the planned outputs, ensuring the project is resourced appropriately at all times
- You will ensure your projects manage risks and issues to avoid delays, reduced benefits and increased costs
- You will engage with stakeholders impacted by projects and communicate effectively
What You’ll Need:
We’d love to hear from you if you’re passionate about delivering change that benefits the people who live and work in Liverpool. Projects that we’re looking for our project managers to deliver are ones of average complexity, with mostly known risks, working across one or two Council Directorates. You’ll need to be able to clearly scope and plan projects and ensure projects are supported by the right governance. You need to be able to understand what makes a project worth doing and lead the project team around this shared vision. You’ll be able to manage the risks and issues affecting the project, as well as monitor the project finances and resources. You’ll need to have good interpersonal skills to engage with the relevant stakeholders involved in the project.
If you would like to talk to a member of the team about the role or have an informal discussion, please contact Patsy Lewis on Patsy.Lewis@liverpool.gov.uk
Interviews are scheduled to take place from the 15th to the 17th of April.
Please note that in accordance with the Council’s policy, employees who are in a formal redeployment situation will be considered in the first instance for all vacancies.
We advise you save the job description and person specification on your own device (e.g. laptop, tablet, mobile), as once the closing date has passed they will not be accessible.
