More Information

Careers Education Service Advisor

Do you want a rewarding part-time role helping to shape the future careers of local students for the better?  Then look no further!

About the role

The Careers Education Service provides careers information, advice and guidance services, including work experience, to local secondary schools.

You will be based in two or more secondary schools in Halton or neighbouring authorities delivering one-to-one careers guidance to pupils and coordinating the schools’ work experience programme.

There may be occasions where you deliver additional careers related activities in other schools and to other age ranges.

About you

You will have experience of providing one-to-one careers guidance to young people and will hold a level 6 qualification in a related field (or be working towards this).  You will also be capable of coordinating various schools’ work experience programmes, with the assistance and support of the Careers Education Service Manager.

You will need to be proactive, well-organised and able to work to deadlines.  You will be working independently in schools and with a range of stakeholders, including children, school staff and local employers.

Most of all, you will enjoy working with children and making a positive difference to their future training and career paths.

Preferred working days for the service are Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, although which three days may be negotiable.

You will need to be mobile throughout the borough (reasonable adjustments may be made in accordance with Equality Act 2010) and will receive a car user allowance (subject to conditions) in addition to your salary.  You will also have access to a generous pension scheme (Local Government Pension Scheme, administered by Cheshire Pension Fund). For full details, see cheshirepensionfund.org.uk.

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

For an informal discussion about this post, please contact Graeme Peace (Careers Education Service Manager) on 0151 511 7351.

Interviews will be held on 17th June 2024.
