Fleet Maintenance Service Technician

The service provides a fleet maintenance function for a number of Council front line services and external customers. This includes taxi licensing application vehicle inspections & private mot inspections. These services are operated from the Council’s main operational depot at Stretton Way in Huyton.

The main duties will be conducting MOT tests (Classes IV, V & VII), including taxi compliance tests on private hire and hackney vehicles.  Inspection, servicing, repairs, diagnosing faults on light commercial vehicles and plant.

Applicants will need to have the following essential requirements:

1. Recent working experience of maintaining a range of vehicles including:

  • Electrical repairs and diagnostic procedures
  • Mechanical repairs and diagnostic procedure
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance workshop operating practice.
  • Ability to understand and utilise computerised performance management systems to deliver measurable service improvements.

 

2. Motor vehicle repair NVQ level 3 or equivalent

3. Evidence of completion of a full motor vehicle apprenticeship.

4. Authorised DVSA MOT tester

5. Category B Licence (Minimum).

The post comes with a shift allowance and tool allowance. The shift pattern currently alternates between a 35 hr week & 37 hour week averaging 36 hours per week.
